Designer Visit

We would like both parties to be there to hear and see what the Designer has to demonstrate. It will make it far easier for you to both decide together about your exciting home improvement. We want to get it right first time.

How long will my home consultation last? In order for us to supply a professional service our visit will last approximately an hour

Why do both home owners have to be there at a quotation? It is through our own experience that we have realised that both parties have an input. All of our designers carry simple products to demonstrate our wide range of styles & Designs which are bespoke and tailor-made  to suit your home. We have lots of choices from coloured finishes, sculptured or chamfered profiles and an array of glazing options, which is why we prefer to see both homeowners on our initial no-obligation visit. All it will cost is a cup of tea!

How long should I expect to wait between placing my order and actual installation? Subject to the complexity and extent of the design we endeavour to install within 4-8 weeks

Can you just give me a quote / price over the phone, or by email? It would be difficult for the designer to quote over the phone without measuring and assessing your home for replacement windows or doors. We would also like to show you samples of our products and help you choose what is right for you and your home. The visit will take no longer than an hour and we will leave you with a free no obligation quotation.

How much is double glazing? There is no simple answer to that question as all homes are different shapes and sizes. Call us today on 01793 781620 or complete our online form on this website. A designer can visit your home, show you some samples, measure up and provide you with a free quotation. You are under no obligation to buy from us – let us show you what we’ve got – we think you’ll like it. Your quote is valid for 12 months and its FREE – you are under no obligation to buy from us.

Replacement Windows

Do you do repairs on other company’s products? No but we can replace them and are happy to provide a free no obligation quotation.

What locks do KM Windows Ltd. use?

Dependant on which door we use Yale or Winkhaus locks, and MILA locks on the Windows. All of these makes cannot be rivalled in terms of quality and durability. They are also covered by our 10 year guarantee.

Are double glazed windows worth it?

Yes, absolutely. It’s a very sensible question to ask yourself, “are double glazed windows any good?” reducing your energy bills, improving the look and security of your home and reducing noise. We think it’s worth it!

What access to you need for my installation? Our installers will need easy access to all rooms where they are to fit your new windows or doors. We will need access to the outside of your property as well. It is also a good idea to let your neighbours know the intended installation date.

Will there be a lot of noise? There will be some noise when removing the old frames and installing your new frames. However, we take care to carry out the installation with as little inconvenience and disruption to your home as possible.

Will there be much dust? There will be dust and debris (bits of wood, glass, plaster and so on) during any installation, even given the care we take. It is a good idea to cover your furniture and belongings before the fitters arrive. Although our fitters do bring dust sheets, it is a good idea to take the following precautions. To avoid dust getting into other rooms, keep those doors closed as much as possible during the installation. However, the installation team will try their best to clean all dust and remove debris after finishing the installation.

What about my carpets? Installers will do everything possible to avoid any dirt or debris soiling your carpet by covering the working area with dust sheets. However, it would help if you could roll your carpets back (if they are not fitted) to avoid any accidental damage.

What happens with my existing frames? We cannot guarantee that we can remove the existing frames in a condition which will allow them to be used again. If there are any special door fittings, knockers or numbers you want to keep, please remove these before the installers arrive.

Shall I take my Curtains and blinds down? Please remove and refit all curtains and blinds to avoid any accidental damage.

What will happen to my Burglar alarms? Fitting alarms is a specialised operation. Please contact your local alarm company to remove these items and replace them when we have finished.

What about the decoration around my windows? Our installers will try to avoid damaging the decoration, but some minor damage may occur to plaster, tiles or wallpaper. We will repair plaster where necessary, but we cannot accept responsibility for redecoration or re-tiling.

I have young children and pets at home… For their own safety, please keep children and pets away from the areas where the installation is taking place.

What accreditations do you have?

Thanks to new government building regulations there are minimum standards of energy efficiency that windows, door and conservatories fitted in the UK must meet. The new Building regulations known as “Document L” (J in Scotland) set energy efficiency targets to reduce heat loss from frames and glass to help Great Britain meet the commitments as set out in the Kyoto Agreement relating to energy consumption and greenhouse gases.

To ensure that you fit replacement windows that meet these new standards, the glass and Glazing Federation teamed with other industry bodies to produce FENSA – the Fenestration Self-Assesment Scheme. By choosing us to complete your work we will provide you with a certificate comfirming that your new installation complies with these new regulations.

BSI British Standards is the UK’s national standards organization that produces standards and information products that promote and share best practice. It serves the interests of a wide range of industry sectors as well as governments, consumers, employees and society overall, to make sure that British, European and international standards are useful, relevant and authoritative. BSI regularly test our products and we are pleased to say that they all meet and surpass the requirements for the following accreditations;

BS 7412 This standard details the expected performance of PVCu extruded hollow profiles, specifying requirements for raw materials, construction, safety and weather resistance ensuring they meet strict criteria suitable for the intended use.

BS7412 PAS24 WINDOWS This is the improved security performance of casement and tilt and turn windows. The standard details the test methods and criteria which must be met to provide reasonable security against unauthorised forced entry.

BS7412 PAS24 DOORS This is the improved security performance of PVC-U door sets. The standard details the test methods and criteria which must be met to provide reasonable security against unauthorised forced entry.
